Global Transportation Manager

Over the coming month we will take steps to unite our supply chain organizations for MRS (Mining and Rock Excavation Service) and RDT (Rock Drilling Tools). At the same time we will create a Global Master Data and Trade Compliance organization. Uniting the supply chains serving both RDT and MRS will create synergies between the two Divisions and unlock opportunities to build world-class capabilities at scale.

Mission:
The Global Transportation Manager is responsible for global freight management and sourcing with the objective to build and optimize an efficient global transportation network. The global transportation network needs to support Epiroc’s supply chain strategy for RDT and MRS with a focus on delivering high customer service and cost efficiency. This role reports to the VP Supply Chain

 

Job description:

Strategy and performance
As Global Transportation Manager, you will build a world-class transportation network by select and contract the transportation capabilities for Epiroc together with the supply chain team.

You will develop the global transportation strategy for Epiroc from suppliers of components / raw material to end customers and set performance targets, monitor and report performance and ensure targets are met

You will also support supply chain transformation to an integrated global model including change management in local markets and manage network of internal stakeholders and transportation providers.

Operational execution
To meet the strategy you will have to optimize freight lanes and local country logistics and optimize transportation network in line with MRS Global Parts Model and RDT replenishment model.

You will also align logistics capabilities with requirements of supply chain strategy and customer expectations.

A part of this role is also to coordinate with local logistics teams to create awareness and savings opportunities and manage carrier performance in regions.

To ensure we meet the regulations you will manage and control the transportation documents and work with Trade Compliance team and drive standardization of logistics processes/tools across the regions.

An important part of this role is to maintain and develop relationships with current, new and potential service providers and evaluate quotations and negotiate with service providers. To overcome roadblocks to ensure delivery is in line with internal and external customers’ requirements is part of your role.

People management
You will manage the global transportation team and increasingly local teams in the delivery of the transportation and supply chain goals and objectives.

Educational and experience requirements:

To succeed in this role we think that you have a degree in supply chain, logistics, operations, or related degree. MBA is preferable and at least 10 years in global transportation management (domestic and international experience).

You have experience in the global supply chain and global distribution systems and processes (import/export regulations included) and experience in end-to-end supply chain management involving distribution, inventory management, and project management.

You are an experienced leader with track record of successfully managing people in a global organization.

You also have a strong understanding across all modes of transportation as well as domestic and international and ability to develop new vendor relationships.

We also see that you have experience in procuring freight, leading / driving freight bids, node/network optimization and Trade Compliance.

A must in this role is strong English communication skills both verbal and written. Additional language will be preferred

Country and city description
This positions location is TBD, preferably in Örebro or Fagersta, and reports to the VP Supply Chain MR, Hans Kuehn. In this position global travel is required.
